Murphy Finishes Tied for 10th at Northeast Amateur

RUMFORD, R.I. — South Carolina rising senior Will Murphy claimed another top-10 finish on Saturday as he tied for 10th at the Northeast Amateur at Wannamoisett Country Club.
Murphy posted a final-round 69 (E) to finish with a 72-hole total of 281 (+5). He carded rounds of 72 (+3), 68 (-1) and 72 (+3) in the first three rounds. LSU’s Stewart Jolly won with a total of 274 (-2).
A native of Columbia, S.C., Murphy has now finished in the top 10 in four straight amateur events since March, including wins at the prestigious Azalea Invitational and Sunnehanna Amateur. He entered the Northeast Amateur ranked No. 14 in the world in the Golfweek/Amateurgolf.com Rankings and No. 23 in the Scratch Players World Amateur Rankings.
