Carolina Equestrian Ranked No. 1 for Record 12th Straight Week

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina equestrian team is ranked No. 1 for a school record 12th straight week in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) rankings, it was announced today. No previous South Carolina team in any sport has ever been ranked No. 1 for more consecutive weeks during a season. The Gamecocks have been ranked No. 1 since Dec. 2, 2013.

Carolina (8-2, 2-2 SEC) is on a four-meet winning streak and coming off a 10-9 win at Georgia on Feb. 8. The Gamecocks became the first opponent ever to win three straight meet over the Bulldogs at the UGA Equestrian Complex.

The Gamecocks return to action this Saturday, when South Carolina hosts No. 10 Texas A&M at One Wood Farm in Blythewood. Carolina’s home finale will be a week later on Mar. 1 for the team’s annual Equifest Kids Day, when the Gamecocks host No. 3 Auburn. Both meets begin at 10 a.m. and admission to all equestrian events is free.

South Carolina will host the 2014 SEC Championships, Mar. 28-29 in Blythewood.
