Humacao, Puerto Rico – The South Carolina women’s golf team stands in a tie for sixth place after the second round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Humacao, Puerto Rico. The Lady Gamecocks fired a 302 in Friday afternoon’s second round and are tied with Kent State and Wake Forest. Fifth ranked Duke lead by 13 strokes after firing a 288 Friday afternoon.

Senior All-American Kristy McPherson is tied for 12th place heading into Saturday’s final round. McPherson fired her second straight two-over par 74 and is seven shots off the lead. She is shooting four-over par for the tournament.

Junior Marci Robinson continues her run, firing a four-over par 76 and has a five-over par 149 for the tournament. Robinson is tied for 16th place. The remaining scores for the Lady Gamecocks are senior Kacy Thompson (75, 151, T28) junior Adrienne Gautreaux (77,157, T54) and sophomore Tiffany Catafygiotu (80, 162, T69).

Duke continues to lead the field firing a 288 Friday afternoon for a total score of 579. Florida jumped into second place also firing a 288, and has a total score of 592. Auburn is in third place with a total score 598, followed by Texas with a 602, and Georgia rounds out the top five with a 603.

V. Nirapathpongporn leads the individual field by two strokes heading into the final round after firing a one-under par 71 for a total score of three-under par 141. Aimee Cho of Florida is in second place after recording a two-under par 70 for a total score of one-under par 143. Kristina Engstrom of Duke fired the lowest round of the day, a three-under par 69, and has a total score of even-par 144. Suzie Fisher of Tulsa and Lisa Ferrero of Texas are tied for fourth place, each with a total score of one-over par 145.
