Sindarius Thornwell Named SEC Freshman Of The Week

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina freshman guard Sindarius Thornwell has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists against 10th-ranked Florida and LSU. This is Thornwell’s first-career Player of the Week honor.

Thornwell shot 66.7 percent (12-18) from the field in posting 10 points at Florida, and a season high 25 points against LSU on Saturday. He was a perfect 2-of-2 from 3-point range against Florida while collecting three steals to match his season high. Against LSU, Thornwell scored a season best 25 points, including 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting in the first half.

South Carolina continues SEC play when it travels to Texas A&M on Wednesday. Game time is set for 8 p.m. ET, with the contest to be broadcast on SEC TV with Dave Lamont and Joe Dean Jr., on the call.
