COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina’s Corey Taylor earned SEC Male Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors for his performance at last Saturday’s USC Invitational.
The senior established a new facility record in the 55 meter hurdles by setting a mark of 7.21 in the preliminaries. He later went on to break that mark by posting a 7.19 in the semifinals, also an NCAA automatic qualifying time.
Taylor garnered his first Indoor honor, the third weekly award won by the Gamecocks this season. Otukile Lekote was named Male Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 29, while Aleen Bailey earned the season’s first Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award on Jan. 15.
South Carolina competes in the SEC Indoor Track Championships in Gainesville, Fla., Friday, Feb. 28 through Sunday, March 2.
