COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina is ranked No. 18 in Golfweek’s preseason countdown of the top 30 Division I men’s golf teams heading into the fall season.

The Gamecocks are coming off a stellar 2012-13 season that included seven top-three finishes, with one tournament win and four runner-up finishes. Carolina claimed second at the SEC Championship, tied for second at the NCAA Columbus Regional and tied for 27th at the NCAA Championship, the program’s first appearance since 2009. The Gamecocks return four golfers from their postseason lineup in juniors Caleb Sturgeon and Sean Kelly and sophomores Matt NeSmith and Will Starke.
