ELGIN, S.C. — The South Carolina men’s golf team was well represented at the top of the leaderboard at the conclusion of the South Carolina Golf Association’s 82nd Amateur Championship on Sunday at The Member’s Club at Woodcreek.

Three Gamecocks finished the championship in the top 10, as junior Will Murphy, sophomore Will Starke and junior Caleb Sturgeon finished tied for second, tied for seventh and tied for 10th, respectively.

A native of Columbia, S.C., Murphy finished two strokes back of medalist Carson Young with a total of 274 (-10), shooting rounds of 70 (-1), 69 (-2), 66 (-5) and 69 (-2).

Starke, a native of Chapin, S.C., posted rounds of 68, 70, 70, and 72 to wrap up the weekend with a total of 280 (-4). A native of Laurens, S.C., Sturgeon finished with a total of 283 (-1), carding rounds of 71, 67, 72 and 73.
