COLUMBIA, S.C. – Four members of the South Carolina women’s soccer team have been named to the third annual SEC Soccer Preseason Watch List, the league announced Wednesday. Beginning in 2011, the Southeastern Conference began naming the watch list in lieu of announcing all-conference teams.
Senior forward Danielle Au, junior goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo, junior defender Christa Neary and senior midfielder Elizabeth Sinclair were each named to the list. It marks the third-consecutive year that Au and D’Angelo have been included.
Au led the Gamecocks in points (11) and goals (4) last season. She enters her senior season sitting in the South Carolina all-time top 10 in career goals (8th, 16), career game winning goals (4th, 7) and career points (9th, 41).
D’Angelo will anchor the South Carolina defense for the third straight year. She boasts a 0.99 GAA over 38 career matches, posting 130 saves and seven shutouts. The goalkeeper was named the 2012 Canadian U-20 Player of the Year last December.
Last season, Neary was a prominent member of a backline that limited a string of five-straight SEC opponents to only 17 shots on goal in 470 minutes of action. The Gamecock netted the game-winner against LSU last season as well.
Sinclair has been a workhorse in her previous three seasons in the Garnet and Black as a defensive midfielder. Last season, she notched a game-winning assist against ECU and helped extend the South Carolina season with her second assist of the year in the opening round of the SEC Tournament.
The Gamecocks open their season with exhibition play at College of Charleston on Aug. 13. A home match on Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. against UNC Wilmington opens the regular season.
Season tickets for women’s soccer, which includes admission to all home games, are currently on sale in the Gamecock Ticket Office. Fans can purchase tickets online at GamecocksOnline.com, or by calling 1-800-4SC-FANS. Cost for season tickets for women’s soccer is $25 for adults and $10 for youth (17 and under).
