DALLAS, Texas – University of South Carolina junior midfielder Braeden Troyer was named to the 11-member 2013 Preseason All-Conference USA Men’s Soccer Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. Troyer is one of more than 20 all-conference players returning to C-USA teams in 2013.

Troyer earned second-team all-conference honors last season during his sophomore campaign, while he was also named to the Capital One Academic All-District 4 Team and the C-USA All-Academic Team. Troyer posted three goals and one assist for seven points in 2012. Playing nearly every minute, he also had 15 shots on the year, with six on goal. The Columbia, S.C., native scored his first goal of the season versus then-No. 25 UAB in mid-October, before also posting scores against Marshall and Memphis. Troyer has eight career goals for the Garnet and Black.

Also announced by Conference USA was the preseason poll. Tulsa was picked to win the league, followed by C-USA newcomers New Mexico and Charlotte. The Gamecocks were picked to finish seventh in the poll. Tulsa forward Christian Mata was tabbed the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and New Mexico defender Kyle Venter earned Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Below is the preseason poll and complete student-athlete honors. South Carolina reports for preseason camp on Aug. 13 with the first exhibition on Aug. 18 versus Mercer at Stone Stadium. Visit www.GamecocksOnline.com for information on all of South Carolina’s varsity sports.
