Gamecocks in Fourth Place After Two Rounds of Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. –

The South Carolina women’s golf team shot an 11-over 299 on Saturday at the Pete Dye Course at the Country Club of Landfall to finish in fourth place after two rounds of the Landfall Tradition hosted by the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Alabama is currently in first place with a total score of 575 (-1). The Crimson Tide shot a 290 (+2) in the second round to retain the lead. Duke and Clemson round out the top three with scores of 583 (+7) and 598 (+22), respectively. The Gamecocks are only one stroke off the third place Tigers with a two round score of 599 (+23).

Katelyn Dambaugh carded the low round for the Garnet and Black for the second day in a row with a 1-over 73. The freshman shot a 5-over 41 on the front side and then recorded four birdies on the back side giving her a total score of 144 (E) and putting her in a tie for fourth place.

Samantha Swinehart turned in a 2-over 74 in the second round while tallying three birdies and five bogeys on the day. The senior is currently in a tie for 16^th place with a total score of 150 (+6).

Sophomore Sarah Schmelzel shot a second-round 3-over 75 for a total score of 151 (+7), which puts in her in a tie for 21^st place. The native of Phoenix, Ariz. recorded a birdie and four bogeys on day.

Junior Justine Dreher shot a 5-over 77 and concluded the day in a tie for 70^th place with a total score of 160 (+16). Dreher tallied two birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey on the day.

Sophomore Mary Fran Hillow is currently in a tie for 45^th place after shooting a second round 79 (+7) giving her a total score of 156 (+12).

Alabama’s Stephanie Meadow remains at the top of the individual leaderboard with a total score of 141 (-3). Duke’s Yu Liu and Clemson’s Ashlan Ramsey moved into in a tie for second place with score of 143 (-1). Emma Talley of Alabama is tied with Dambaugh for fourth place with an even-par 144.
