COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina’s volleyball staffs begin their summer series of camps this week, designed to help players both in the sand and on the court improve their games.
South Carolina Volleyball Camps have already completed the Gamecock Academy series, which ran on weeknights in May, but space is still available for the rest of the summer’s clinics, including this weekend’s Gamecock Beach Camp. With a preferred grade level of 8-12, athletes can learn all aspects of the outdoor game during this exciting three-day camp. Day campers can get in at $270, while participants staying overnight have a $350 rate for this June 7-9 camp that includes an Under Armour beach volleyball for all attendees.
Indoor camps begin in July with the Gamecock Team Camp. Held July 9-11, high school varsity teams can come learn advanced drills and team dynamics from the Gamecocks. Space is limited to the first 20 teams to register, and the cost is $200 per athlete for commuters and $250 per person if the team stays overnight.
An all-skills camp is set for July 15-16. Intended for beginners and players with intermediate skills, attendees will add to their basic skill set of serving, hitting and defense. Designed for players grades 6-12, this two-day camp is $225 per participant.
Also on July 15-16 is the Volley-School, a camp designed for ages 6-10 to show them the fun of playing volleyball. Many basic fundamentals will be covered in this morning camp that is only $75 per person.
Specialized position training is showcased in the July 17-18 camps. Players from grades 6-12 can choose either the hitting academy, setting academy or libero academy for $225 per person. Set up for athletes of intermediate and experienced levels to take their game to the next level, this day camp can help players gain confidence heading into their next season.
The last camp, for grades 9-12, is the Elite Skills Camp, which will prepare athletes for a college volleyball environment. Training sessions will mirror what the Gamecocks go through to prepare for the season and will include many advanced training tips and reps for participants. Players not needing overnight accommodations can get in at $285, while those who do need to stay will pay $350.
For more details or to sign up for any of these, go to SCVolleyballCamps.com and register. The Beach, Team and Elite Skills camps are the only camps offering overnight accommodations, with those participants staying at the Courtyard Marriott directly across the street from the Volleyball Competition Facility, where all indoor camps will be held. Attendees will also receive a T-shirt (one per camper, no matter how many sessions attended).
All camps are open to any and all entrants, limited only by age, grade level, gender and/or space available. Early registration is encouraged to ensure your spot in the camps.
