CARMARTHENSHIRE, Wales — South Carolina rising junior Justine Dreher won her first two matches on Thursday to advance to the round of 16 at the Ladies’ British Amateur Championship at the Machynys Peninsula Golf Club.

Dreher was dominant in her first-round match as she defeated Gabriella Cowley, 4 and 3, to set up a second-round match with defending champion Stephanie Meadow, a three-time first team All-American at Alabama. She took down Meadow, 2 up, to punch her ticket to the third round, where she will face Norway’s Tonje Daffinrud on Friday.

A native of Valbonne, France, Dreher finished 60th in the stroke play portion of the event with rounds of 72 (E) and 80 (+8) to advance to match play. She was one of 64 golfers to advance out of a field of 138.
