COLUMBIA, S.C. — Senior guard Ieasia Walker from the Gamecock women’s basketball team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Walker drove the team to victory over #5/4 Kentucky with team highs in points (16), rebounds (8), assists (4), steals (3) and blocks (20). She played every second of the game against Kentucky, most as primary ball-handler against the Wildcats’ pressure. In the second half against UK, she posted nine points, three assists and three steals – more than half her game totals

Walker swiped five steals at Arkansas, including three in the second half – two in the final six minutes as the defense held off a Razorback charge. She hit a pair of 3-pointers during a key first-half run against Arkansas as well.

Walker has scored in double figures in four of eight SEC games and swiped five or more steals in three league games. In league play, Walker is tied for the league lead in steals (3.0 per game) and ranks among the SEC’s top 30 scorers (27th, 11.5 ppg).
