COLUMBIA, S.C. — Sophomore Aleighsa Welch from the Gamecock women’s basketball team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Welch scored a career-high 15 rebounds against Drexel, including 10 in the second half and a total of eight on the offensive end. It was the most rebounds by a Gamecock since Nov. 20, 2011. She averaged a double-double for the second week in a row and scored four of the team’s first six points in the second half against Drexel to spark a comeback from a 14-point halftime deficit.
