CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colo. — South Carolina junior Blaine Woodruff made a bogey on the fourth playoff hole as he narrowly missed securing one of the 14 remaining spots in match play on Wednesday at the U.S. Amateur Championship.

Woodruff shot a second-round 75 (+4) on Tuesday at Cherry Hills Country Club to wrap up stroke play. The cut line for the top 64 golfers to advance to match play was set at 2-over par, and Woodruff was one of 17 golfers with a two-day total of 143 (+2). He made a bogey on the first playoff hole of the day but rebounded to make par on the next two. However, he bogeyed the fourth playoff hole, and the remaining three golfers made par to secure the final three spots in match play.

Senior Dean Hester did not qualify for match play as he carded a second-round 76 (+5) on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 273rd with a total of 156 (+15).
