BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The bracket is set for the 2012 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament, which will be held March 8-11, in New Orleans, La., with games to be played at the New Orleans Arena. South Carolina (10-20, 2-14 SEC) is the No. 12 seed in the event and will play No. 5 seed Alabama (20-10, 9-7 SEC) in the first round of the tournament on Thursday, March 8 at 3:30 p.m. ET, with the game to be televised on the SEC Network.

The meeting will mark the sixth between South Carolina and Alabama in the SEC Tournament, with the Crimson Tide holding a 3-2 advantage in the series at the event. South Carolina won the 2012 regular season meeting between the two schools, 56-54, with the Gamecocks earning the victory on a last second layup by sophomore guard Bruce Ellington.

The winner of the South Carolina versus Alabama contest will advance to play No. 4 seed Florida on Friday, March 9 at 3:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
