Columbia, S.C. – Senior defender Tim Glowienka was drafted to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds today in the A-League soccer draft.
Glowienka was the sixth overall pick. Joey Worthen (1998-2001)was drafted by the Riverhounds in the Spring of 2002. Worthen led the Riverhounds in minutes during the 2002 season.
During his tenure at South Carolina, Glowienka played in all but two games during his collegiate career. This year Glowienka scored the game-winning goal, off a free kick, against Charlotte. He was also named to the 2002 Pro-rehab-Aces Classic All-Tournament Team.
“We are very pleased for Tim,” commented South Carolina Head Coach Mark Berson. “He has had a tremendous career at South Carolina and I know he is looking forward to having the opportunity to play at the next level.”
