COLUMBIA, S.C.Sabrina D’Angelo from the women’s soccer team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

D’Angelo started her first career NCAA Tournament match and responded with a shutout against Texas last Friday to send South Carolina to the second round. D’Angelo recorded four saves in the contest, including two on breakaway opportunities by Second Team All-Big 12 member Hannah Higgins, to preserve the shutout. D¹Angelo is the first Gamecock to start a postseason match in goal as a freshman and pitched just the third shutout in program history in NCAA Tournament play.

It was the fourth solo and eighth combined shutout of the season for D’Angelo. She now passes Amy Toms (1995) for the freshman records of most games played and started in goal at 20 and 19, respectively.
