COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina (14-15) has earned the No. 6 seed from the East and will play Ole Miss (19-12), the No. 3 seed from the West in the first round of the 2011 SEC Tournament next Thursday in Atlanta. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. ET at the Georgia Dome, with the contest televised on the SEC Network.
South Carolina owns a 16-19 overall record in SEC Tournament action. The Gamecocks have reached the Championship game twice – 1998, lost to Kentucky and 2006, lost to eventual national champion Florida.
South Carolina defeated Ole Miss, 79-73, on Feb. 22 in the regular-season matchup between the two schools in Columbia. The Gamecocks lead the all-time series 14-13.
The winner of the South Carolina vs. Ole Miss matchup will face Kentucky, the No. 2 seed from the East on Friday afternoon.
