COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina head men’s basketball coach Darrin Horn announced on Wednesday that Carlton Geathers (F – 6-11 – 260 – Georgetown, S.C. – Carvers Bay High School) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend South Carolina next fall and join the Gamecocks squad for the 2010-11 season. South Carolina’s recruiting class is currently ranked No. 11 by Scout.com.

Two-year letterwinner at Carvers Bay High School for coach Jeff Mezzatesta … Averaged 10 points, eight rebounds and five blocks during senior season … Helped lead prep squad to Lower State Championship Game in 2010 … First Division I men’s basketball signee in Carvers Bay history … Only played two seasons of organized high school basketball … Is the cousin of former Gamecock football standout Clifton Geathers.

Geathers completes Horn’s recruiting class for the upcoming 2010-11 season, joining fellow signees Bruce Ellington (G – 5-10 – 185 – Moncks Corner, S.C./Berkeley High School), Damontre Harris (F – 6-9 – 225 – Fayetteville, N.C./Trinity Christian School), Brian Richardson (G – 6-5 – 180 – Wilson, N.C./Greenfield School), RJ Slawson (F – 6-8 – 190 – Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester High School) and Eric Smith (G – 5-11 – 185 – Mullins, S.C./Christ School).
