The University of South Carolina women’s soccer team fell to NO. 9 Clemson Tuesday evening 3-0. The Lady Tigers scored three first-half goals, two off corner kicks to defeat USC.

USC sophomore midfielder Melissa Hutson led the Gamecocks with two shots and junior goalkeeper Elise Matthews had three saves in the second half to lead the Gamecocks.

Clemson opened up the scoring at 15:48 as Tricia Williams put in a rebound off Carolina goalkeeper Carolyn Ortega to give the Lady Tigers a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers increased their lead to 2-0 as Lindsay Browne’s shot at 30:10 trickled into the net off Ortega. Clemson finished up the scoring at 33:05 as Deliah Arrington’s header off the corner kick went past the USC defense to put the Lady Tigers up by three.

South Carolina will be back in action on Fri. Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. at Stone Stadium as the Gamecocks face Kentucky. The match will be taped for broadcast on Fox Sports Net South.
