COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Southeastern Conference announced the 2001 SEC Women’s Soccer Academic Honor Roll this afternoon. Among the athletes named to this year’s list, nine of the players were members of the 2001 South Carolina Gamecocks.

This year’s recipients from the 2001 Gamecocks include: Seniors Lydia Bienias and Jessica Ward and juniors Melinda Carter, Corine Creech, Kelty Hudson, Becky Leeper, Elise Matthews, Kanika McAlpine and Kristen Schreiber.

To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must: 1) have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year or for their career, 2) be a sophomore or higher in academic classification, and 3) have 24 semester hours countable toward a degree. This year’s honor roll is based on grades from the 2000-01 academic calendar.
