Winning her second straight heptathlon in as many weeks, USC senior Tacita Bass racked up 5,598 to win the event with an NCAA automatic mark – breaking the Sea Rays Relay. Teammate Antoinette Wilks, competing in her only her second heptathlon, was the runner-up, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships with a score of 5,213 points.
The Gamecocks will compete at the Sea Ray Relays Friday and Saturday, hosted by the University of Tennessee.
Freshman Chalsea Hammond was eighth with 4,681.
In the seven-event two-day heptathlon, Bass won the 800m, the long jump and set a meet record in the 200m. Wilks won the 100m hurdles.
