ATHENS, Ga. –
University of South Carolina men’s tennis senior Guillaume Legat advanced to the national round of 16 Friday with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Middle Tennessee State’s Daniel Klemetz in the NCAA Individual Singles National Championships at the University of Georgia.

Legat now advances to the NCAA Sweet 16 and will take on Duke’s Ramsey Smith — son of former tennis great Sam Smith — at 9 a.m. Saturday. The winner of that match will advance to a quarterfinal match later Saturday to determine who will advance to the semifinals.

Legat now has captured four-consecutive matches in the postseason after a perfect 11-0 record at No. 1 singles in SEC dual-match play. Legat won his matches both at the SEC Championships and NCAA Regional, and is 2-0 in the NCAA Individual Championships.
