Led by redshirt sophomore Nash Elliot, No. 14 South Carolina finishes in fourth place, with a score of 858, at The Ridges Intercollegiate in Jonesborough, Tenn.
TCU managed to defend it’s title, defeating the 15-team field by ten strokes. Southern California shot 851 to finish second and Oklahoma closed in at third. South Carolina was the top finisher of the Southeastern Conference schools. Auburn and Tennessee finished in sixth and seventh place, while Arkansas was 15th.
A native of Estill, S.C., Elliot fired a three-round score of 210. His six-under-par score would earn him a sixth place finish.
In his first tournment as a Gamecock, Martin Rominger placed 13th, shooting one-under-par (215). JoahnKok finished one stroke behind Rominger with a score of 216. Elliot, Rominger and Kok all earned a place in the top 20.
Rounding out the Gamecock squad was sophomore Brent Delahoussaye and sophomore transfer Jason Huguet. Delahoussaye tied for 27th, while Huguet struggled in the first round and would wind up in a tie for 65th.
The Gamecocks return to action on Sept. 17-18 at the Invernees Intercollegiate where they look to defend their title from the 2000 season.
