Keeping their flawless streak in tact, the Gamecocks swept Wofford and Winthrop in Sunday’s doubleheader action at the Sam Daniel Tennis Center. The 7-0 victory over Wofford, followed a 4-0 shutout of Winthrop improved the Gamecocks at 5-0 on the year. In addition, South Carolina is now 30-0 in match points during the dual season.

In the Gamecocks 7-0 shutout of Wofford, the doubles team of Ben Atkinson/David Nelson, Seth Rose/Carl Wermee, and Rob Cassidy/Marcus Westman all rolled to easy victories. South Carolina also breezed through singles play winning all six matches in straight sets. Victorious for the Gamecocks were Seth Rose, David Nelson, Marcus Westman, Ben Atkinson, Rodrigo Pacheco, and Nasir Sherazi.

In the afternoon contest, the Gamecocks followed three doubles victories to their fifth shutout of the season. After taking the early 1-0 lead, South Carolina used singles victories from sophomores Marcus Westman and Rob Cassidy, along with freshman Ben Atkinson, close out the 4-0 win.

South Carolina’s men’s tennis team will be back in action next Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they host North Carolina at the Sam Daniel Tennis Center.
