South Carolina’s No. 19 ranked men’s tennis team shutout in-state rivals The Citadel and College of Charleston on Sunday at the Sam Daniel Tennis Center. A combined 13-0 mark on the day, the Gamecocks gained their sixth and seventh shutouts on the season.
The doubles teams of Angelo Niculescu/ Marcus Westman and Ben Atkinson/David Nelson recorded two victories on the day, while the Rob Cassidy/Nasir Sherazi combo was perfect in their only match.
Singles play saw Marcus Westman, Carl Wermee, and Ben Atkinson go 2-0 on the day. David Nelson, Nasir Sherazi, Rob Cassidy, Angelo Niculescu, and Rodrigo Pacheco all recorded victories in their only match as every Gamecock contributed to a perfect 11-0 mark in singles play.
South Carolina will be back in action on Friday, March 29 as they return to SEC play by hosting Auburn at 2:00 p.m. The Gamecocks final home match of the season will be on Sunday when Alabama comes to town for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
