uscsports.com sat down with Plummer in our bi-weekly feature of Volleyball athletes here at Carolina. Read on as Plummer talks about being injured, her parents, and why she can’t get enough of “Pearl Harbor”

Talk about being hurt and sitting out in ’99. How tough was that?

(Note: Plummer injured her shoulder early in the 1999 season that required surgery. She was medically redshirted)

It was the hardest thing that I ever had to do, because I could not help my team. But at the same time, it was the best thing that happened to me, because I can play for another year. It was a great learning experience.

You swear by TCBY yogurt. What about it do you like?

Ohh. I LOVE it. It is so refreshing and eating it doesn’t make you feel guilty because it is so light. It’s not like ice cream.

Why do you like the movie “Pearl Harbor” so much?

Because Josh Hartnett is pleasing to the eyes. He is sooo cute. I could watch that movie 100 times and not get tired of it.

Coming from Michigan, what was the biggest change for you in coming to the South?

Learning what ‘fixin’ meant. (Laughs). I also never knew that potatoes could be mashed. I can proudly state that I have not fallen for the sweet tea fix.

As a fashion merchandising major, do you one day hope to have your own clothing line?

I hope to one day have enough cash to buy my own clothing line. (Laughs to the point of tears).

You get a lot of support from your parents, don’t you?

They are tremendous. I would not be here today if it weren’t for them. They would drive me four hours to my club team practice, and I will always treasure them, along with my grandparents.

You were recruited by Clemson. Do you think you made the right choice?

Absolutely. Go Cocks!!!!!!! Besides, orange isn’t my color.

The name Cally is unique. Is that a family name?

No. My mom was reading a magazine and she found it there, so here I am.

You are like a coach on the floor. Is coaching something you would like to do?

Yes. Coaching is something I would like to do. We have a great staff here, and they do a good job. Watching players grow as people and players is something special to me.
