South Carolina men’s tennis player Seth Rose dropped two close matches to nationally ranked opponents on the opening day of play at the All-American Championships in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Rose entered the tournament ranked No. 49 in the ITA National Rankings. First round action saw Rose go up against the No. 4 ranked player in the nation, Pepperdine’s Al Garland. Garland tripped up Rose in a tough three set match 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
Rose returned to action in the consolation bracket later in the day. In first round consolation action Rose squared off against the ITA National Ranking’s No. 55 ranked player, Tulane’s Victor Romero. Romero was able to pull off a straight set victory 7-6 (7), 6-4.
Atlanta, GA – The remaining members of the USC men’s tennis team will travel to the Bill Moore Tennis Center in Atlanta, Georgia for the Georgia Tech Fall Classic. Play will begin Friday, October 12, and continue through Sunday, October 14.
