Knoxville, Tenn. –
Wrapping up a weekend of SEC road action, South Carolina’s No. 24 ranked men’s tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 15 Tennessee on Sunday at the Volunteers’ Varsity Tennis Center. The loss drops the Gamecocks to 13-6 on the year (4-6 SEC).

USC dropped the doubles point, losing three matches to Tennessee. After falling to an early 1-0 deficit, South Carolina was never able to get things rolling. David Nelson claimed the lone USC victory on the day, winning in straight-sets over Simon Rea by a score of 6-0, 7-5. The win marked Nelson’s 17th victory of the season. Seth Rose, Marcus Westman, and Carl Wermee came up just short, with all three losing three-set matches.

The Gamecocks will be back in action on Wednesday, stepping out of SEC play to visit the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
