Jan Sandberg

  • DeMars’ first All-American (1985) at USC.
  • Reached the NCAA singles round of 32 during his freshman season.
  • Ranked as high as No. 3 in the ITA tennis poll during his three-year career.
  • Ranked as high as 38th in the world and owned a junior win over Mats Wilander prior to his USC career.
  • Led the Gamecocks to their first NCAA berth (1987) under Coach DeMars.

Ken Diller

  • Singles (33-16) and doubles (26-12) All-American as a junior in 1987.
  • As a senior, led USC to a win over No. 1 ranked UCLA and a berth in the NCAA Semifinals.
  • Advanced to the NCAA singles semifinal and quarterfinal rounds during his two years at UCLA.
  • Currently employed as a sales representative for Prince in Chicago.

Stephane Simian

  • Two-time singles All-American (1989 and ’90) and 1989 doubles All-America.
  • Ranked as high as 5th in the ITA Tennis Rankings during his career.
  • Defeated John Stimpson (Alabama), Carl Chang (Cal-Berkeley) and Martin Blackman (Stanford), while leading the Gamecocks to the 1989 NCAA Semifinals.
  • Captured the Metro singles title at the No. 2 position as a junior and at No. 1 as a senior.
  • Reached the semifinals of the ITA All-America Championships and won titles at the Clemson Winter Classic and the USC Region II Fall Invitational as a senior.
  • Won 12 consecutive matches as a senior while posting 49 total singles victories and reaching the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 in 1989.
  • Qualified for the 1991 U.S. Open and reached the third round before falling to defending champion Pete Sampras in four sets in his rookie season on the tour.
  • Reached the third round of the 1992 Australian Open before falling to Sweden’s Christian Bergstrom.

  • Defeated 12 of the 20 nationally ranked opponents he faced in 1993-94.
  • The highest doubles ranking of any individual in school history (5th, Fall 1993).

  • Handed Florida All-American Damon Henkel one of only four losses in 1993-94.
