Columbia, S.C. – For the second time in three weeks, the No. 12 University of South Carolina men’s soccer team (11-4-2) has played the toughest strength of schedule in the nation in NCAA Division I, according to the Albyn Jones Rating System published by Collegesoccer.com, for the week of Nov. 12. The Albyn Jones Rating System does not determine national rankings or present itself as a poll.
In the current ratings the Gamecocks have played nine teams in the top 25, posting a record of 3-4-2, with wins over Furman, Penn State and Wake Forest. Against teams in the various national polls, the Gamecocks have played eight opponents and posted a record of 4-3-1.
Part of the team’s success is from the stingy defense which allowed only 15 goals in 17 matches. South Carolina has posted a goals against average of .82, ranking the Gamecocks 20th in the nation. On offense, the Gamecocks are averaging 2.2 goals per match.
South Carolina heads to Miami, Fla. to play its final regular season match against the Florida International Golden Panthers on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
