AUSTIN, Texas –
The South Carolina women’s swimming and diving competed in the first day of the NCAA Championships on Thursday. Sophomore diver Holly Hodges led the way for USC with a ninth place finish in the one-meter diving competition with a score of 276.70. South Carolina rests in 27th place after day one.

Also competing in the one-meter competition were freshmen Allison Brennan (247.75) and Tracey Richardson (230.70) who finished 19th and 28th respectively.

Swimming for USC on day one was sophomore Anna Nyiry and freshman Heather Skaggs. Nyiry placed 18th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.05, while Skaggs placed 40th with a time of 23.29.

South Carolina will be back in the pool for day two with Nyiry in the 100 butterfly and Skaggs competing in the 200 freestyle. All three USC divers will compete on the three-meter board.
