Palo Alto, CA – University of South Carolina rising sophomore Greg Royster scored a personal best 6679 points to finish third in the decathlon at the USA Junior Championships today. Senior Tacita Bass is in ninth place of the heptathlon after the first day.

The USA Championships run through Sunday, June 23 at Stanford University.

Royster scored the personal best 6679 points in the two-day event. His totals included:

100m – 11.75
long jump – 22′ 2 1/4
shot put – 39′ 1 3/4
high jump – 6′ 5
110m hurdles – 16.88
discus – 112′ 6
pole vault – 15′ 9
javelin – 150′ 7
1500m – 4:47.55

Bass is in ninth place after day one with 3251 points. Her total include:

100m hurdles – 14.69
high jump – 5′ 5 3/4
shot put – 35′ 9 1/4
200m – 24.21
