South Carolina women’s golfers Adrienne Gautreaux and Kristy McPherson finished one-two in their respective qualifiers and will play in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, to be held Aug. 12-17, at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, N.Y.

Gautreaux, who just completed her first season with the Lady Gamecocks, won the U.S. Women’s Amateur Sectional Qualifying in Houston, Tex. (River Oaks Country Club) July 10 with an even-par 72. Gautreaux was on the 17th hole at one-under par before a lengthy rain delay, but returned to go one-over on the final two holes for the victory. The Mabank, Tex., native will compete in the Texas Open July 24-25 prior to participating in next month’s U.S. Women’s Amateur.
