Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – South Carolina swimmer Chris McCrary placed fourth in the 50 freestyle at the Phillps 66 U.S. Summer National Championships on Thursday evening. McCrary finished the 50-meter event with a time of 22.58.

Along with his fourth place finish, McCrary also finished below the 2004 Olympic Trial qualifying time of 23.39. McCrary was one of two Carolina swimmers to compete at the NCAA Championships last season. McCrary placed seventh at the SEC Championships in the 50-yard freestyle. McCrary owns the second fastest time in school history in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 19.98. McCrary will be entering his junior year at Carolina for the 2002-03 season.
