Durham, N.C. – The No. 12 men’s soccer team remains undefeated after toppling Duke, 3-0, to win the Duke/adidas Classic today at Koskinen Stadium. USC improves to 4-0, while the Blue Devils fall to 2-1-1.

The Gamecocks were able to capitalize on their opportunities as three different players registered goals. Anthony Stovall came off the bench in the first half to add South Carolina’s first goal at the 35:22 mark and then Jordan Quinn notched another goal less than two minutes later to give the Gamecocks a 2-0 halftime advantage.

Freshman Josh Alcala then notched in his first goal of the season to give South Carolina the 3-0 lead. Senior Jordan Quinn was named the tournament’s most valuable player. In USC’s Friday match, Quinn scored the game-winning goal against N. C. State

Also making the all-tournament team are Michael Bachmeyer (USC), Jack Cummings (USC), Jordan Smith (USC), Donald McIntosh (Duke), Jordan Cila (Duke), Matt Ahumada (Duke),Derek Biss (GW), Arnar Johannsson (GW), Mitchell Watson (NCSU), Marcus Johnson (NCSU) and Justin Branch (NCSU).

The Gamecocks return home next weekend to host the South Carolina Gamecock Classic. USC plays New Hampshire on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and the nationally Washington Huskies on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1:30 p.m. Both USC matches can be heard live on the internet at www.uscsports.com.
