Columbia, S.C. — Three members of the University of South Carolina men’s tennis team have been honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in the Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings.

Seth Rose enters the season as the highest ranked Gamecock at No. 31 with 700 votes. Rose, a senior from Boca Raton, Florida, closed out the 2002 season ranked No. 49 nationally. Rose has been a regular in the national rankings since closing out his sophomore season ranked No. 85.

Angelo Niculescu, a senior from Romania, will enter the season ranked No. 37 with 640 votes. Niculescu looks to build on a strong junior campaign that saw him compile a record of 24-12 while earning a No. 62 national ranking.

The final Gamecock in the national rankings is Marcus Westman. Westman is ranked No. 89 with 47 votes. The junior from Sweden returns after posting a team best 30-8 record during the 2002 season.

The men’s tennis team will see their first action of the season on September 28-29 when they travel to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the Wake Forest Invitational.
