COLUMBIA, S.C. –
The South Carolina Volleyball team continues their tough early-season schedule this weekend as they travel out to Long Beach, California to face a pair of nationally ranked teams. Action begins Friday, September 13th at 7:00 p.m. as the Gamecocks (6-1) will take on the 27th-ranked Toreros of the University of San Diego.

South Carolina is 1-1 versus ranked opponents this season, falling to then #15 Michigan State 3-1 in Lansing, Mich., but defeated then #13 Pacific 3-0 in the final match of the Carolina Classic. San Diego (6-1) is 0-1 vs. ranked opponents this season, falling 3-1 to then #23 North Carolina. Carolina is 1-1 vs. San Diego all-time, with the Toreros winning the last match played 3-1 in 1994.

On Saturday, September 14th at 7:00 p.m., Carolina takes on the #5 Long Beach State 49ers. This will be the first meeting between the two schools. Long Beach State is 1-0 this season against ranked opponents, defeating then #18 Colorado State 3-1 on September 5th.

South Carolina enters this weekend’s action riding a four game winning streak. The Gamecocks defeated archrival Clemson 3-2 on Tuesday night in front of 1,246 fans, the seventh-largest crowd in school history.
