Columbia, S.C. – Battling through the wind and the rain, South Carolina placed fifth at the Bank of Tennessee at The Ridges Intercollegiate. South Carolina blasted a three-round score of 884. Wake Forest won the team title with a score of 876. North Carolina placed second, followed by TCU and Duke.

Freshman Eirik Johansen fired three-under-par 69 to elevate him to second place with a three-round total of 216, one stoke back from first place. His sixth place finish is the highest Gamecock finish this season.

With a score of 222, Martin Rominger tied for 21st. Alex Hamilton shot 225, while Nash Elliot posted 229. Closing out the Gamecocks’ five-man squad was Michael Maness, who finished 60th.

There was a five-way tie for the individual title. Bill Haas (Wake Forest), Dustin Bray (North Carolina), David Schultz (TCU), Leif Olson (Duke) and Ian Pernaby (Tennessee) all shot one-under-par 215.

USC returns to action Sept. 27-29 when it heads to Dalton, Ga. for the Carpet Capital Collegiate.
