Columbia, S.C. – While Seth Rose and Angelo Niculescu continued competition at the ITA Championships in Chattanooga, the rest of the Gamecock squad traveled to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Angelo Niculescu’s run at the ITA Championships ended today as Washington’s Alex Vlaski defeated the Gamecock senior 6-4, 7-5. Seth Rose also fell at the ITA Championships. Rose was defeated by William Barker of Rice 6-3, 6-3.

In Atlanta Ben Atkinson picked up the lone Gamecock victory, topping Roger Thiele of Armstrong Atlantic by a score of 6-0, 6-3. In the second round Atkinson fell to No. 8 seed Scott Schnugg of Georgia Tech by a score of 6-3, 6-4. Marcus Westman, Jason McAlhaney, Kazuya Otani, and Nasir Sherazi all dropped opening round matches. McAlhaney also lost his consolation round match while Westman was forced to withdraw from the tournament. Nasir Sherazi and Kazuya Otani will continue play in the consolation bracket tomorrow.
