Columbia, S.C. – The ninth-ranked South Carolina men’s soccer team fell to No. 3 Wake Forest, 1-0, tonight at Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. The match was a physical, tightly-played affair in front of 3,379 fans. Wake Forest improves to 9-0-2, while South Carolina drops to 7-3-1.
James Riley crossed a pass from the right wing into the middle of the penalty area and hit Adam Hakes in stride. Hakes scored the lone goal of the match with 4:13 remaining to give the Demon Deacons a 1-0 lead.
Goalkeeper Michael Bachmeyer, currently ranked 15th in the country, posted four saves.
