Former South Carolina golf standout Kyle Thompson will be competing in the final round of the PGA Qualifying Tournament to earn eligibility for the 2003 PGA Tour.

Thompson played for the Gamecocks from 1998-2001 and holds the USC record for the lowest individual round with a 63 in the 1999 NCAA East Regional. He also holds the most individual titles in school history with five. Thompson earned All-American honors as a Gamecock three times, from 1999-2001.

Thompson will be accompanied at the Qualifying Tournament by his caddy, Brent Roof, also a USC alumnus.

The tournament will be played at PGA West Stadium Course and Nicklaus Course in La Quinta, Calif., from Dec. 4-9. Thirty-five players from the final roster will be given their PGA Tour cards, allowing them to compete in the 2003 PGA Tour.
