Recap?|? Box Score

USC Head Coach Dave Odom

“It’s a good thing we prepared for Wofford tonight because if we hadn’t we would have lost the game tonight. Every team that Wofford has played similar to us, they have taken it straight down to the numb. Wofford is a very scrappy team and they are well coached. The Terrier fans have to be happy because Mike Young has them headed in the right direction.

“Chuck Eidson had 12 rebounds tonight. Many of those rebounds tonight were strength rebounds. He went in there and he got them with the attitude that we were not going to lose. He played very well in the 2nd half.”

“We had a chance to break the game but we didn’t. Their defense scrapped the ball away and a lot of times we just fumbled the ball. At the end, we had should have played the clock better. Taking it down and milking the clock more and still able to get a clean shot away but we didn’t do that. We have to get better. We have individuals in there that need to be more involved. At halftime, our perimeter guys only had three points. We need to pick that up because this is the kind of thing that will get us beat later down the road.”

“In 2002, we never lost a game in this building (Carolina Center). We are now going on the road and I believe the team is up to it. This is a trip. We will play well. I have to push the guys up to it.”

Wofford Head Coach Mike Young

“I was so disappointed when they shut down Frank McGuire Arena. That was a grand ole place to play but I applaud the University of South Carolina and Columbia (on the Carolina Center). They certainly hit the mark with this building.”

“It was fun to bring our team into here and play. They were bigger, faster and stronger. I thought our kids battled, played hard and did some good things. Hats off to South Carolina, they whipped us in the end.”

“It always concerns me when we play a team with their kind of size. Coach Odom really has them playing well defensively. We needed to get some easier shots and we didn’t. Their share size and way they guard makes it tough.”
