Columbia, SC – Along with this year’s success in the pool, the University of South Carolina men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are also succeeding in the classroom. Five student-athletes were named to the President’s List (4.0 GPA) and an additional 15 earned Dean’s List honors as both the men’s and women’s squads finished the semester with cumulative GPA’s over 3.0. The 19th ranked women’s squad finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.364 and the men’s squad finished at 3.232.
Four members of the women’s squad earned President’s List honors. Senior Kristen Butler, junior Holly Hodges and sophomores Lauren King and Tracey Richardson finished with 4.0 GPA. Five more members of the women’s squad made the Dean’s List (Juniors Bronwyn Dedekind and Christina Hong, and freshmen Katie Bowden, Stephanie Margalis and Haley Skaggs).
The men’s team had two members on the President’s List, and nine on the Dean’s List. Freshman Ian Balman and sophomore Josh Boyd each made the President’s List with a 4.0 GPA. Named to the Dean’s List on the men’s squad included, juniors Lir Derieg, Chris McCrary, Ed Murphy and Tamas Szucs, sophomore Dean Emmerton, and freshmen Reid Duff, Mike Farrington, Tim Farrington, and Daniel Schultheiss.
South Carolina returns to the Carolina Natatorium on Sat. Jan. 10 at Noon for the final home meet of the season, hosting Penn State and Tennessee.
