Fayetteville, Ark. – The South Carolina women’s swimming and diving team traveled to Fayetteville, Ark., Saturday and defeated the Lady Razorbacks 127-116 in a close match-up of Southeastern Conference teams.

The Gamecocks were able to bounce back from a defeat at the hands of Tennessee and Penn State a week ago to place in every event and win seven of the 13 total events. A total team effort was needed to come away with the victory as seven different swimmers and divers came in first in their respective events. Individual winners included Jennifer VanAssen in the 200 Free (1:51.06), Ashleigh Bastak in the 50 Free (24.05), Allison Brennan in the 1-meter board (270.52), Bronwyn Dedekind in the 200 Fly (2:05.55), Haley Skaggs in the 100 Free (52.09), Stephanie Margalis in the 500 Free (5:00.76) and the 400 Freestyle Relay Team (3:27.33).

Besides Skaggs’ win in the 100 Free, the Gamecocks placed 1-2-3 in the event as Bastak finished second and VanAssen third. Dedekind also turned in a good performance, finishing second twice (400 IM and 200 Backstroke) along with her win.

The Carolina women’s team will rejoin their male counterparts to face Georgia in Athens on Jan. 31. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
