Boston, Mass. – South Carolina track and field standout Otukile Lekote won his fourth consecutive 800-meter run as he ran 1:48.07 to claim the title at the adidas Boston Indoor Games Saturday night. As the meet was broadcast live on ESPN2, the Botswana native won the race by .03 of a second over USA’s Derek Peterson (1:48.10). Entering the competition, Lekote, who earned this week’s SEC Athlete of the Week honor, held the fastest time in the world in this event. Lekote has not lost an 800m race this season.

On the women’s side, sprinter Lashinda Demus was the highest finisher for the Gamecocks as she placed third in the 400m with a time of 53.06. Teammate Demetria Washington finished fourth with a time of 53.58.

Aleen Bailey competed in the 60m dash and placed sixth with a time of 7.38.
