Columbia, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s golf team fired a three-round score of 882 to finish 10th at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate. The Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. is hosting the annual event. Augusta State won the team title with a score of 852. Clemson finished second, followed by Texas.

Eirik Johansen posted his fourth top 20 finish of the season with a three-round score of 217. Alex Hamilton fired 220 to tie for 29th. Martin Rominger and West Streib, each shooting 74, posted the low round score for the Gamecocks during day two of the tournament. Rominger tied teammate Hamilton for 29th, while Streib held steady in 49th. Michael Maness improved nine strokes from round two’s score of 87 to place 77th.

Clemson’s D.J. Trahan won the all-ACC playoff on the second hole of sudden death with an eagle that eliminated Duke’s Ryan Blaum and North Carolina’s Dustin Bray.

The Gamecocks will take three weeks offer before competing at the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will take place on March 10-11. Last season South Carolina finished sixth out of 15. Sophomore Martin Rominger blasted a score of 213 to finish second.
