Ames, Iowa – Five USC athletes posted NCAA provisional qualifying marks at the Iowa State NCAA Qualifier Meet on Saturday in Ames. Erica Whipple, Shevon Stoddart, Kemesha Whitmire and Tony Allmond all posted season-best marks.
Whipple ran a 7.40 provisional time in the 60 meter preliminaries and later bettered her provisional mark with a time of 7.37, her season-best, in the event final to finish second. Stoddart ran a provisional time of 53.80 in the 400, her season-best time, en route to winning the event. Whitmire posted a season-best and provisional qualifying mark of 19-11.75 in the long jump.
Charles Ryan ran a provisional mark of 7.95 in the 60m hurdles, finishing fifth in the event. Tony Allmond set a season-best in the long jump with a provisional mark of 25-00.75.
USC’s men’s team is ranked No. 2 and the women hold the No. 6 spot in this week’s Trackwire 25 rankings. The Gamecocks will compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships March 14-15 in Fayetteville, Ark. Individual competitor lists for the NCAA Championships will be posted on Monday, March 10.
