Columbia, S.C.- Former Gamecock golfer, Kyle Thompson, earned his first top 10 finish of the Nationwide Tour in only his second tournament of his rookie year.

The three-time All-American blasted a four-round score of 281 to tie for ninth place at the 2003 Clearwater Classic in Christchurch, New Zealand. Thompson shot two-over-par 74 in the first round but rebounded with three consecutive scores of 69.

The top 20 money winners at the end of the Nationwide Tour season will earn 2004 PGA Tour cards, and three-time winners receive an automatic promotion to the Tour. The Nationwide Tour will open its North American schedule March 27-30 at the Louisiana Open.
